FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General HypnoSIS FAQs

  • The hypnosis session begins with a slow gradual transition so that you can get relaxed while taking you into a deeper and deeper state of relaxation. As you're breathing and heart rate slows down, the brainwaves slow down as well. Your body is relaxed and your mind is relaxed.

  • It feels great!

You’re mindful the entire time, aware of everything going on around you as well as what your unconscious is revealing to you.

Some people experience warmth and maybe some heaviness of the legs and arms; and a reluctance to move or speak. Very often people think they have not been hypnotized because they really didn’t feel that different and could still hear everything said to them. Expect to feel revitalized and relaxed after a hypnotherapy session!

  • In a normal session, you will remain aware of everything around you. Your subconscious mind hears everything and you are aware of internal experiences.

  • When you are in a hypnotic trance, you are not actually asleep. You will hear everything said during a session, even if you drift off or experience daydreams. If you do fall asleep, the "suggestions" will still be absorbed

  • No one can make you do or say anything you don’t want to do in or out of hypnosis. This is not mind control. The old model of hypnosis from scary movies and novels says that the hypnotist does something to you, puts you under and makes suggestions to you that you then have to carry out. Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis. Hypnotherapy is a gentle, loving process and hypnotherapists are trained to not judge. You will heal and change in your own timing.

  • NO. Because the hypnotic trance is so relaxing, people often wish that they could stay there. Even when you drift off into daydreams, you will easily come back when the hypnotist begins instructions for returning to normal waking awareness. In over two hundred years of recorded hypnosis history, there is no documented case of anyone being hurt with hypnosis. Hypnosis can only be used in a positive way. If anyone tries to give you suggestions against your morals, religious beliefs or anything you feel strongly about, you could instantly emerge from the state of relaxation on your own. Know that your subconscious mind is always protecting you.

  • You accept only the suggestions that are right for you. Prior to hypnosis, suggestions are discussed and are agreed to between you and the hypnotherapist. While in a trance, you happens in a hypnotic trance state? tap into unconscious resources and insights you didn’t know you had.

  • Hypnotherapy is different from stage hypnosis. Stage hypnosis is for entertainment purposes while hypnotherapy is used for therapeutic purposes.

  • It depends. Some people remember everything after a session and some people remember almost nothing. This is not because of a suggestion by the hypnotherapist that the client will forget. It is because of a slight amnesia that usually occurs after being hypnotized. Usually, the client recalls what happened during a session later that day.

  • Most people can be hypnotized and go into hypnosis in various ways. Part of the hypnotherapist’s job is to identify what approach will work best for which subject. The biggest prerequisite is simply the client's willingness to be hypnotized.

  • Hypnotherapy works for the majority. Those who do not benefit from hypnotherapy are those with a mental health disorder that is based on a brain-pattern change, like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

  • Typically, clients notice a change within 1-2 sessions. However, it's recommended to commit to at minimum of 3 sessions to really begin to build believe and feel a shift.
